Recreational Vehicle Makeovers are a growing trend in the RV industry as owners choose to keep their unit, and replace worn-out items - or - upgrade them.

I can attest to this as I owned a 30' Airstream Land Yacht that - (after it was paid for) I began to enhance. Banks Power Pack, Gear Vendors Overdrive, reupholstered club chairs and sofabed - I was having a hard time finding shops qualified or even willing to take on renovation work. It seemed that their focus was on prepping/maintaining their sales stock. My unit was already fully optioned when I bought it, but with use, I could see that improvements could be made - upgraded electronics especially.

In 2007 I found a 34' Airstream Land Yacht that had an excellent exterior (garaged in Texas) but a very used interior. It was also a low-end model - in short - a perfect candidate for a total gut/makeover. I went to my local dealer with a phase 1 punch list - got an estimate, approved the work - and was presented with a bill almost twice what was agreed, and the job was still screwed-up. We negotiated and came to a fair settlement. I had also provided a phase 2 list including flooring and headliner replacement and some other major components. They suggested I contact a former employee who was now in business for himself. I started with a few simple things, progressing to the installation of a natural travertine tile floor. Wow! Everything was PERFECT! (It shows the value of being RVIA certified.) I had found a business partner.
